most-expensive-cars-3448356 There are many more expenses for a car then just the initial price tag. Things like gas, maintenance and upkeep tack on a good chunk of change on a car’s overall expense, but the thing that really gets the costs climbing is the insurance for the car. This is especially true for insurance policies on really nice, top of the line luxury and sports cars. These are the cars most people just dream about owning one day, but they probably never even thought about how expensive these cars are when you add on all that money that will be spent on the insurance costs alone. In some cases, the yearly insurance coverage for an expensive car may be more than most people actually spend on a regular new car. There are numerous reasons why insurance coverage may be expensive, but for the cars on this list, the reason is quite obvious: they are expensive cars.

5. The Aston Martin DB9

The name Aston Martin just conjures up all kinds of fantasies and daydreams for most car fans and aficionados. The DB9, which was introduced in 2004, pretty much changed the future of Aston Martin, as it was a struggling car company throughout most of the 90’s, and was in desperate need of a new facelift- which came in the form of the DB9. The best feature for car fans of the Aston Martin DB9 is its ability to go to extreme speeds in very little time, which factors into why this car is so expensive to insure, because most car insurers are very weary of the person behind the wheel. Insurance companies feel like the drivers of this car are more likely to drive unsafely, and thus the insurance costs reflect that worry and risk.

4. Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG

This is another one of those very expensive, high performance vehicles, which are made for the race track just as much as they are made for the road. The insurance costs for this car are very high for the very same reasons that the insurance costs for the Aston Martin are. In the end, most car insurance providers do not trust people to drive these cars in a safe and responsible manner, or are at least not willing to take the risk of trusting the driver in the first place.

3. Mercedes Benz S65 AMG

Yet another Mercedes makes it onto the list. The average cost projected by Insure.com for the Mercedes Benz hig performance vehicles is somewhere around $3,200 a year for insurance alone.

2. BMW 750i

BMW is yet another one of the expensive, sports car manufacturers to make it onto this illustrious list. But, BMW has built its reputation on luxury, which is why this car is so expensive to insure. The luxury means higher costs for repairs and maintenance, which insurance companies do not want to foot the bill for.

1. Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG

Mercedes just does not get a break from insurance companies these days, as they take 3 out of the top 5 spots on the most expensive car insurance list.
